We’re back for Part 2 of our interview with Jonathan Brush of CollegePlus! As if the first interview session wasn’t inspiring enough, Jonathan brings more insight and expertise to the topic of Higher Education. 1. What is a social venture that we all should checkout?

Organizations focusing on what people believe, business or personally related, who help others to effectively communicate their messages. These have been great partners to work with who are also making a positive impact on others!

2. What is your favorite online or offline resource/tool that all entrepreneurs should use?

Google Hangouts- this tool allows us to connect with students more effectively and quickly. This form of Google Hangout also acts as a follow-up to any live events we hold and ultimately connects others.

3. One piece of advice you would give to an aspiring change agent?

Everyone thinks that it is the job they have to look for. If you are a change agent you might think you have to have ‘that’ job in order to change the world. Here’s the key you need to know: It is actually about YOU! Your skills. What you are gifted at. Learn to increase your gifts and build skills, then find experiences to exercise those. Once you figure out what you are good at and what you can do, your job opportunities could be endless. Stop looking for the perfect job, and start looking for who and what you are.

4. What is a caused based book we should all read?

“Essentialism” by Greg McKeown -focuses on the message that you can’t do everything and helps you focus on what you can do.
“The Last Lion” Winston Churchill -amazing biography for making a difference in the world.

5. What is the first thing we can all do to start changing the word?

Execution. If you can train yourself to take the next step, no matter how small, it is the one big difference that separates people who can make a difference in the world. Move on your action and just do it!

There are many resources available to social entrepreneurs, but this is one of the best I have found. I am in the very early stages of a startup. Hearing from others that have already walked the path enlightens me and also reminds me that it can be done when things seem a bit overwhelming. I feel that the information shared here will change and impact how I do things going forward. This cuts to the chase and gives me the exact info I need even before I know I need it!

Josh Schukman has truly created something that matters - in the eyes of social entrepreneurs and in the eyes of those who care about making a difference by way of cause based business models. I'm the founder of MADI Apparel - for every pair of underwear you buy, a pair is donated to a woman in need. We are new, we are growing, and we are attempting to spread as much awareness as possible about the need for underwear donations. So, in my eyes, any platform that cheers on social causes and the ideas behind business that give back, is a platform that we should all support and take notice of.
