I’m going to chat about something a little different today, and it has to do with why you should keep going even if you think all your ideas for social change have run out. You have a dream inside you, change you need to spark, and I hope this little story from my own life helps you get there.
Funny thing I always hear from successful folks is about the number of times they’ve failed - I mean, just straight up fallen flat on their face.
There are any number of quotes on this - “every setback is a setup for a comeback” “I’ve failed my way to success” “failure is an opportunity to begin again - more intelligently”.
Bottom line - failure is an important way to learn. In today’s tech age, I personally have a great indicator of my ‘failed’ endeavors, the list of domains I’ve purchased that were ‘brilliant’ business ideas that have now gone the way of the dodo bird…
Here’s my domain graveyard:
-universitypawnshop.com
-upawnshop.com
-myfinancialprofessor.com
-dadandsonconstruction.com
-peruvianinvesting.com
-internationalsupport.com
To me, each of these domains represents a unique learning opportunity in my life. None of them ultimately succeeded, but each had their own lesson to teach me. Today, I started a new domain: socialchangenation.com. There’s no way to be certain - but I feel absolutely certain that this new venture will combine all the lessons learned from my previous endeavors to produce one of my greatest accomplishments.
So, what does your domain graveyard look like?
