He shares how he has had many peaks and valleys in his road to social entrepreneurship and stresses that it will be like that way for most founders of social ventures. Tyler highlights great teaching points from his own mistakes made when transitioning into the social business space as well as with his initial strategy for Project 7. He gives analogies and personal stories to suggest a gradual shift into social entrepreneurship and urge against a dramatic career change to social entrepreneurship. Tyler shares on how to tell the story of the great product to get people involved in a great cause without selling the cause for “pity purchases”.
Tyler is a true leader in this movement and genuinely get what achieving sustainable impact is all about. He illustrates how the way they he measures the success of Project 7 has evolved over time. Tyler finds satisfaction in his work from positively impacting consumers using a product, retailers selling the product, and non-profit partners being able to help more people with donations generated by the product.
