028: (Part 1) Ben Block of GozAround

Can social media be used as an effective way to help those in need and make the world a better place?

This week we hear from a social entrepreneur who answers that questioning with a resounding “YES!”.

Ben Block is the founder of GozAround, a social network centered around people helping people and the idea that “what GozAround, comes around.”  The site allows individuals and volunteer organizations to post and respond to help requests and formal volunteer opportunities making it quicker and easier to get involved.

Before Ben founded GozAround  in 2014 he was an entrepreneur with his own web design business which he eventually sold before becoming a lawyer.  Ben’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help others in his community led to his idea for GozAround.  He leveraged his resources and skills to create a business that taps into what he calls the “social” or “shared economy”.  Ben shares great insights and the unique story, structure, and strategy that goes into creating and managing a cause based social network.

Be sure to check out the Part 2 of this interview with Ben Block on Wednesday, February 11th.
